The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 77 southbound, near the Bolivar exit. The crash occurred on December 29th, 2022 at 11:48 P.M.
According to troopers, a 2009 Honda Pilot SUV was disabled on the right side of I-77. They believe a man driving 2009 Lincoln MKZ Four Door Car traveled off the right side of the road, and struck the Honda Pilot in the rear.
The 38-year-old driver of the Honda Pilot, a Canton man, died at the scene. The 53-year-old who was driving the Lincoln MKZ, was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital with injuries.
Officials believe drug impairment was a factor in the crash.
Assisting on scene with the Ohio State Highway Patrol was Bolivar Fire Department, Bolivar EMS, ODOT, Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, and Finlayson Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
