Avoid getting snowed in and make sure to check if your township or city has a parking ban in place for the storm.

Parking Bans:

Plain Township residents will want to remember parking is prohibited on all township roads. This starts at midnight tomorrow and ends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Park in driveways until then!

Check back for more parking bans as they become available..

Travel Bans:

The Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the winter storm warning by issuing an official travel ban for certain vehicles planning to travel on the turnpike on Friday and through the weekend.

According to the Ohio Turnpike Commission’s Facebook, this ban affects “certain high-profile vehicles” including the following:

– Tow-behind trailers, campers, boats and enclosed trailers that has a height exceeding 7′-6”, classified as “high profile” vehicles

– All mobiles homes, livestock, and office trailers

– All LCV double-trailer combinations exceeding 90-feet in length, as well as all triple-trailer combinations

– Commercial trucks with a 53-foot or longer trailer that’s empty

Driving Conditions:

According to the National Weather Service, meteorologists are expecting the temperatures to drop Thursday night. You’ll really feel the difference early Friday morning with cold temperatures of -25 to -30F.

High wind chills of up to 60 mph, as well as some lake effect snow are expected, making travel hazardous for some areas.

Even if there’s snow, bundle up to build a snowman because the wind chills can quickly cause frostbite. According to the National Weather Service, this wind “could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.”
