Indian Valley High School will honor 2022 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Bob Huggins during the Braves boys’ home game this Friday against Hiland High School.
Huggins, who is currently in his 16th season as head coach of West Virginia, was the Ohio state player of the year in 1972 and was part of his father Charlie’s state champion Indian Valley South team that same year. The younger Huggins’ 2,438 career points ranked fourth among all Ohio players at the time of his graduation.
Huggins, who has also coached at Walsh, Akron, Cincinnati, and Kansas State, is just one of six head coaches with at least 900 victories.
Friday’s slate in Gnadenhutten will begin with the junior varsity game (6 p.m.), followed by the varsity contest at 7:30 p.m.
