3-year-old accidentally shoots mom in Canton Township

A 23-year-old mom was left hospitalized after being accidentally shot by her 3-year-old son.

The shooting happened Friday evening in the 4100 block of Lincoln St. E in Canton Township. When deputies arrived, they located the mother with a single gunshot wound. She was transported to Aultman Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation, deputies discovered that the woman was accidentally shot by her 3-year-old son.

“This is an example as to why it is critical that firearms are properly stored inside the home,” explained Sheriff George T. Maier. “This incident very easily could have been tragic. Thankfully no lives were lost, this time.”
