The Alliance City Schools is mourning the loss of their athletic director who passed away Monday.
Lenny Reich had taken over as the district’s athletic director over the summer. He was previously the longtime sports information director at Mount Union.
In April of this year, Reich was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis – an uncommon bone marrow cancer.
Reich then stepped away as the SID at Mount Union to take over at Alliance City Schools.
In an email from ACS Superintendent Rob Gress, Reich recently had complications with his last treatment.
“Lenny wasn’t with ACS for very long, however, the impact he was making on our athletic community was significant and will be felt for years to come,” Gress wrote in an email to staff.
School counselors are available at all buildings for any student or staff member in need of assistance.
Reich leaves behind his wife, Helen, and daughter Caroline.
