HS Football Friday: West Holmes captures OCC title in New Philadelphia; Dover falls on last-second penalty-turned-score

West Homes High School flexed their offensive muscles in a 60-7 blowout of New Philadelphia on Friday night in Millersburg.

The Knights (9-0, 5-0) captured their third consecutive Ohio Cardinal Conference title with the win, in which they jumped out to a 36-0 victory in the first half.

Knights quarterback Mason Wolfe went 14-of-18 for threw274 passing yards and four touchdowns. Receivers Kyle Maltrick and Logan Zollars each hauled in a pair of touchdowns while running back Sam Williams-Dixon rushed 13 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns – all in the first half.

Quakers quarterback Keaton Fausel went 7-of-13 for 119 passing yards and an interception while also throwing a 57-yard touchdown to Dan DiDonato to put New Phila on the board just before halftime.

The Quakers fell to 5-4 (4-3).

LINSLY 21, DOVER 20

Linsly pulled out a 21-20 victory over the Dover Crimson Tornadoes on Friday in West Virginia.

The Cadets scored a touchdown with 28 seconds remaining to cut Dover’s lead to 21-20. Linsly missed the ensuing extra point kick but was bailed out on a Dover roughing the kicker penalty and successfully converted the following 2-point conversion.

Dover drops to 5-4 with the loss.
