The Canton Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened early Tuesday morning in the 1100 block of Walnut Ave NE.

Officers were dispatched at 12:26 a.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they located a 24-year-old woman who had been shot multiple times. The injuries she sustained were non-life threatening, according to Canton Police spokesperson Dennis Garren.

Lionell Blair III, 23, of Canton was charged with Attempted Murder and Felonious Assault.

According to jail records, Blair shot at the victim, striking her. He then allegedly followed her into the house as she ran away. Records state that Blair stood over the victim and fired the gun into her again in an attempt to “cause her death.” The suspect also has warrants for shooting the victim during a previous incident.

A second suspect, Robert Julius Clark Jr, 22, was also arrested and charged with Complicity to Commit Felonious Assault. His part in the incident is unclear.

The shooting remains under investigation.
