The New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that claimed the life of a local woman Thursday afternoon.
Troopers were dispatched to State Route 800 in Sandy Township just after 4pm Thursday for reports of a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived to the scene, troopers located a vehicle off of the roadway.
As a result of initial investigation, Rhonda R. Horner, 68, of Waynesburg was traveling north on State Route 800 when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, down an embankment and struck a culvert.
Horner was transported to Aultman Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation.
