The Garaway Pirates got off to a fast start on Senior Night in what would be a 33-3 win over visiting Waynedale on Friday night in Sugarcreek.

Pirates quarterback Logan Yoder threw for 244 passing yards and three touchdowns while adding 56 rushing yards and a TD.

Two of Yoder's touchdowns went to receiver Jenson Garber, while sophomore Dillon Soehnlen caught the other score. Soehnlen, in place of injured running back Ethan Miller, ran 11 times for 56 yards and a touchdown, while also totaling 59 yards receiving.

Gabe Amicone caught six passes for a team-high 64 receiving yards, while Garber had four total catches (including the two touchdowns) for 58 yards.

The Golden Bears (1-1) turned the ball over three times, on two interceptions and a fumble.

DOVER 35, AKRON EAST 0

Dover remained unbeaten after defeating the Akron East Dragons in their Week 2 matchup on Friday at Crater Stadium.

The Crimson Tornadoes (2-0) will host Indian Valley next Friday.

East fell to 0-2 with the loss.

STEUBENVILLE 20, NEW PHILADELPHIA 0

Steubenville bested New Philadelphia for the third time in five seasons, with a Big Red shutout victory on Friday at Woody Hayes Quaker Stadium.

The Quakers (1-1) will travel to Wooster for next Friday's Week 3 matchup.

MALVERN 21, CONOTTON VALLEY 20

The Malvern Hornets staved off the Conotton Valley Rockets on Friday night.

Rocco Marinucci caught a game-sealing interception for the Hornets (2-0).

Dylan Phillips filled in at quarterback for Jared Witherow, who left the game in the 2nd quarter with a wrist injury.

Phillips went 2-for-5 with 68 yards and a passing touchdown, while also running for 54 yards on 12 carries.

Drake Hutchison led the Hornets with 56 rushing yards, while KJ Walker returned a punt 75 yards for a score.

Evan Rice led the Rockets with 159 rushing yards with two touchdowns on 39 carries.
