HS Sports Monday: Carrollton girls win Lady Dawg Invitational; Indian Valley edges Claymont; Dover competes at Northeast Ohio Coed Classic

The Carrollton girls’ golf team won the Lady Dawg Invitational on Monday at Vista View Golf Course.

The Lady Warriors shot a 364 to best John Glenn (372), Sheridan (392), and River View (394).

Ashlee Garner led Carrollton with an 8-over 79 (3rd among all golfers), along with scores from Claire Hostetler (92), Kaylee Russell (94), and Jada Moore (99).

NORTHEAST OHIO COED CLASSIC

In Monday’s Northeast Ohio Coed Classic at Arrowhead, Dover’s boys’ squad finished fourth among 12 qualifying area schools.

The Crimson Tornadoes shot a 334 to finish in 7th place.

North Canton Hoover won the boys’ division with a team total of 318, ahead of second-place Louisville (326), third-place Ursuline (327), and fourth-place Medina (332).

The Vikings also boasted the tournament’s medalist in Daniel Gambone (71).

In the girls’ division, Hoover also took the title with a 320-stroke performance.

Dover finished in 9th place with a 402.

Canton Central Catholic’s Kristen Belden shot a 72) to take medalist honors.

GIRLS GOLF – REGULAR SEASON

INDIAN VALLEY 198, CLAYMONT 199

Indian Valley spoiled Claymont’s regular season home opener with a 1-shot victory at Big Bend.

The Lady Braves were led by Natalie Holbrook’s 47 and Emily Jones’s 48. Abrielle Jones (51) and Aubrey Elliott (52) added to I.V.’s total.

Alivia Edwards led the Mustangs with a 41, while Meadow Duvall shot a 51. Alexa Brick (53) and Hailey Fellows (54) rounded out Claymont’s qualifiers.

FAIRLESS 212, NORTHWEST 214

Fairless edged Northwest by two shots on Monday at The Elms.

The Falcons were led by Kaydee Goff’s 47, while Briana Schumacher totaled a 49.

Jessica Cliff shot 45 to lead Northwest.

GIRLS SOCCER

CARROLLTON 3, RIDGEWOOD 0

Ariona Rutledge scored two goals in the Warriors’ Monday match win over Ridgewood.

Isabella Nuzzolillo added the other Carrollton (2-0) goal, whole Mekla Dorsey (two), and Lexi Shocket (one) assisted on the scores.

Ridgewood drops to 0-1 with the loss.

GIRLS TENNIS

DOVER 3, GREEN 2

Dover bested Green in Monday match play.

The Crimson Tornadoes were led by singles victors Taylor Rose (6-1, 6-0 over Julianna Beyes), Kayleigh McCutcheon (6-4, 6-7(4), 6-1 over Lilly Howdyshell), and Josie Pinelli (6-1, 6-1 over Marianna Farmkidis).

CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC 3, CLAYMONT 2

Canton Central bested Claymont in a Monday matchup.

Schiyler Crumpler beat Brooke Davis, 6-0, 6-3, in their singles match, while Lilly Heck (6-0, 6-2) defeated Makayla Kendall.

In doubles, Emily Luyster and Maddie Houston beat Sarah Grabowsky and Sammi Hoover by a 6-2, 6-1 finish. Cadence Miller and Isabella D’Antonio beat Kendall and Allyson Kadri (6-2, 6-0) to lead the Lady Crusaders.

Arianna Terakedia managed a 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 singles win for the Lady Mustangs. over Chloe Doll.
