Man dies in Tuscarawas County chainsaw accident

A 66-year-old man died at an area hospital after suffering an injury while using a chainsaw Sunday morning in Gnadenhutten.

Donald W. Braun, 66, died at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, according to the Stark County Coroner’s Office.

Braun was operating a chainsaw while on a ladder when he fell in the process of cutting a tree limb at a home at 1356 Miller Road SW in Clay Township, according to reports.

EMTs were first dispatched to the scene at 8:59 p.m. for reports of a fall victim who had ben injured by the chainsaw. When Arrowhead Joint Fire District EMTs arrived on scene, they located the seriously injured Braun.

In a written statement, Arrowhead Joint Fire District Chief Steve M. Wright said:

“Arrowhead EMTs would like to extend our condolences to the family during this time of tragic loss. Arrowhead EMTs would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our mutual aid partner sat Uhrichsville Fire Department for their professional assistance in responding to this unfortunate accident.”
