An explosion on Tuesday night at TimkenSteel’s Faircrest plant has landed three workers in the hospital.

The blast occurred around 10:30 Tuesday night, with Perry Township’s fire department responding, followed by Canton and other departments.

According to Perry Township Police Chiefs Larry Sedlock on WHBC’s Canton’s Morning News, the blast occurred “in their melt shop area. It did involve a furnace. We were working with Timken personal there, and it is still under investigation, as far as exactly what transpired.”

Sedlock also reported the extent of the workers’ injuries was still unknown, and they were transported to local facilities.

There was also no official cause of the explosion at the time of the interview, according to Sedlock.
