A 35-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday, June 26 in Jackson Township, according to Chief Mark Brink.
Chief Brink said the Jackson Township Police Department was dispatched to the Rodeway Inn, 6880 Sunset Strip for reports of a man shot just before midnight. When officers arrived, they located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The JTPD was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Cortez Wendell Watson of the 1300 block of Plain Ave, Canton, who was quickly identified as a suspect. At 12:30 Monday afternoon, Watson was arrested by the US Marshals, Stark County Sheriff’s Office, FBI Safe Streets and Canton Police Department.
He is facing charges of Murder, Felonious Assault and Having Weapons While Under Disability.
