The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of man who fell to his death at the Dover Dam Sunday afternoon.
Emergency personnel was dispatched to 5153 State Route 800 NE in Dover for reports of an injured person. When they arrived, they located Walter Rogers dead from a head injury.
Rogers was at the Dover Dam at the overlook directly above the dam with a friend. Rogers saw coins on a ledge below where they were standing and attempted to climb down to where they were, according to the sheriff’s report.
Rogers lost his grip and fell. At the end of his fall, his head struck the cement landing, causing a significant head injury. He died before deputies arrived to the scene.
