AKRON, Ohio (JMN Sports) – Apple Creek Waynedale High School earned its first state baseball championship in Saturday’ s 2-1 victory over Milan Edison in the Division III state championship at Canal Park.

The Golden Bears needed eight innings to outlast the Chargers, scoring on a Connor Gatti walk-off RBI single off Ben Bates in the top of the 8th.

Ottoniel Soloranzo pitched all eight frames for the Bears, allowing nine hits and one run (on a Thomas Simon 5th inning single). Soloranzo struck out nine while walking three.
