Ridgewood earned its first East District title since 2019 with a 7-3 victory over No. 3 Harrison Central in the Division III championship in Cadiz.

The 6th-seeded Generals overcame an early 2-0 deficit by scoring in each of the final four innings.

Ridgewood is set to play Saturday’s winner of Galion Northmor and Baltimore Liberty Union in next Thursday’s Region 11 semifinal at Mount Vernon High School (5 p.m.).

HILAND 10, TORONTO 0 (5 INN.)

No. 2 Hiland needed just five innings to win the Division IV East District title over No. 3 Toronto on Thursday at Minerva’s Carl Michael Field.

The Hawks (16-9) were led offensively by Jeff Todaro’s four hits for four RBIs, while Dakota Miller added two runs driven in on a single.

Winning pitcher Isaak Yoder allowed just one hit while striking out six over five innings.

Hiland will play Mowrystown Whiteoak in the Division IV Regional semifinal at Lancaster’s Beavers Field on Thursday at 2 p.m.

TRACK & FIELD

DIVISION II – CHILLICOTHE

Thursday’s top-four individual and team finishers qualified for next week’s Ohio State meet in Columbus.

Sandy Valley’s Mason Tucci won the boys regional long jump title with a leap 21 feet, 10.75 inches advance to the State meet.

Minerva’s girls team won the 3200 with a 9:39.55 finish for Jenna Cassidy, Kayla Crissman, Hera Hoffee, and Hannah Ison, while Abby Wheeler won the long jump title for the second consecutive season.

Carrollton’s 4×800 relay team of Elizabeth Funkhouser, Maddie Burgett, Josie Burgett, and Erin King finished third with a season-best total time of 10:09.05. Carrollton reached the State meet for the eighth consecutive year.

Thursday’s meet was suspended due to inclement weather and will resume on Saturday, along with regularly scheduled Saturday events.

DIVISION II – AUSTINTOWN-FITCH

Fairless Brant Marchand finished third in the boys pole vault at Thursday’s Austintown-Fitch Regional meet.

Marchand totaled 15 feet to mark third in the event.
