The Canton Police Department is investigating an accident between a motorcycle and a car that left one man dead.

Chief John Gabbard said that Rico Marshall, 36, of Canton was operating a 2007 Suzuki VS800. On May 20, Marshall was heading north in the southbound lane of 1600 block of Cleveland Ave NW when he struck a 2007 Toyota Corolla head-on.

Marshall, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to a local hospital along with the driver of the car for their injuries.

Marshall died the following day from his injuries. The driver of the Corolla was treated and released from the hospital.

The Canton Metro Crash Team responded and is investigating the accident. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol are a factor in regards to the motorcyclist at this time.
