EAST CANTON, Ohio (JMN Sports) – The Osnaburg Local School Board voted on Monday night to not renew the contract of head football coach John “Spider” Miller.

Miller, who had coached the Hornets’ football program since 2016, spoke on the matter during Tuesday’s edition of Kenny and JT on 1480 WHBC:

“I can’t give you the answer why because I don’t have one. Nobody seems to know, and nobody wants to tell me.”

Miller took over at East Canton after making head coaching stops at Canton McKinley (2000-02) and Massillon Perry (2004-09) High Schools. In six seasons with the Hornets, Miller composed a 34-27 record and made five playoff appearances. After inheriting a program that earned seven wins over the previous three years, Miller made his first postseason run with the Hornets in 2016, which was the first playoff season in school history and the first winning campaign for East Canton since 2008.

“I appreciate everything that Osnaburg Local Schools has done for me, giving me a teaching job and a coaching job that I love to do,” says Miller. “The support that I’m getting from everybody in the community has been awesome.”

An East Canton football community town hall has been set for those who wish to speak on the matter. The town hall is scheduled for Thursday, Apr. 21 at 7 p.m. at Werley Park.
