A man from the Kent area has turned himself into police after he is accused of punching a young Black woman in the face early Sunday morning, while calling her the N-word.
The 26-year-old was identified as Andrew Walls of Kent after a video of him shouting and assaulting the woman went viral. Walls is believed to have connection to the far-right group – the Proud Boys. He turned himself in Monday afternoon, according to Akron Police.
He has been charged with possessing a firearm while intoxicated and assaulting the young woman. He was also charged with a second assault charge.
The incident happened in Akron’s Highland Square.
