Dover’s Lane finishes 1st in 200m Freestyle preliminaries, 4th in 500m; Crimson Tornado boys, River View advance in relay events

Dover junior Lucas Lane finished first in Thursday’s Division II preliminaries of the Boys 200-meter Freestyle at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday night at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Lane’s total time of 1:39.32 was 0.75 seconds faster than his seeded time.

Lane, who won the 200m Freestyle state championship with a 1:39.66 last February as a sophomore, also finished in fourth place in the 500m Freestyle (4:38.30).

The Dover Boys 400m Freestyle relay team finished 15th overall at 3:19.76. The team consists of senior Blaze Burris, junior Kasey Ruegsegger, junior Cameron Marshall, and Lane.

River View High School’s 200m Freestyle relay team of senior Zachariah Phillips, senior Cole Tatro, junior Jamal Watts, and senior Coen Bible advanced to the Friday finals with a 15th-place time of 1:30.34.

The top 16 finishers in each event qualified for Friday’s final events.

Dover’s 200m Freestyle relay team – consisting of Burris, sophomore Simon Lorentz, junior Cameron Marshall, and Lane – finished 23rd at 1:31.88.

In the girls’ competitions for Dover, junior Holly Perkowski finished 21st in the Girls 100m Butterfly at 1:00.60.

Dover juniors Annie Wright, Riley Schie, Reagan Durbin, and freshman Elizabeth Lane finished 21st in the Girls 200m Freestyle relay with 1:43.33.

The Crimson Tornadoes finished 23rd in the 200m Medley relay. Durbin, Perkowski, Wright, and junior Cassy Connare totaled a 1:54.90 time.

Durbin, Lane, Perkowski, and Schie ended in 24th place in the Girls 400m Freestyle relay with a 3:47.69.
