CANTON, Ohio (JMN SPORTS) – Canton City School District announced on Wednesday that the Feb. 18 McKinley-GlenOak boys’ basketball game will now be a varsity-only contest with limited spectators.

The move is being made, according to the Canton City School District in partnership with Plain Local Schools, “out of an abundance of caution due to information provided by local authorities regarding a possible safety and security issue.”

The contest will be held at Canton Memorial Fieldhouse at 5:30 p.m. this Friday.

Spectators will be limited to two parents or legal guardians of varsity players and cheerleaders, who will be issued codes on Thursday to access and purchase tickets online. There will be no ticket sales at the Fieldhouse gate.

“The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority,” Canton City School District stated. “Everyone who already bought a ticket will have the ticket price refunded to them automatically. They do not need to take any action.”
