HS Sports Tuesday: Dover basketball reaches 20 wins; Garaway downs Indian Valley; Carrollton bowling wins sectionals

Ayden Hall totaled 24 points and nine rebounds in the Dover Crimson Tornadoes’ 69-48 Tuesday night victory over Parkersburg South.

Dover extended their winning streak to 17 games and moved their record to 20-1 – their 14th season with 20 or more wins under head coach Bob Von Kaenel.

Ashton Mooney scored 14 second-quarter points to lead Parkersburg, who fell to 14-3.

NORTH CANTON HOOVER 47, NEW PHILADELPHIA 38

The Hoover Vikings outscored the New Philadelphia Quakers 18-6 in the final period of Tuesday night’s non-conference matchup at New Philadelphia High School.

Elijah Barker scored 11 points to lead a balanced Vikings offense that included performances from Wesley Collins (nine points), Daelen Campbell, Tanner Ware (eight points), and Matthew Mizner (seven points).

The Quakers (15-6) were led in scoring by Carter Vandall, who finished with 17 points.

The Vikings improved to 15-5 with the win.

GARAWAY 36, INDIAN VALLEY 32

Alexander Roden scored a game-high 16 points in the Garaway Pirates’ Tuesday victory over the visiting Indian Valley Braves.

Lucas Hagen paced I.V. with 10 points.

The two teams will face off again on Wednesday night in Gnadenhutten.

DALTON 61, HILAND 60

The Dalton Bulldogs pulled off an upset of state-ranked Hiland on Tuesday night in Dalton.

Jalen Wenger scored 23 points for the Bulldogs (17-3), while Braylon Wenger (13 points) and Jaden Schlabach (eight points) added to the Dalton final total.

The Hawks (16-4) were led by Sammy Detweiler’s game-high 28 points.

MALVERN 49, ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 47

The Hornets squeaked by St. Thomas Aquinas in a Tuesday night non-conference showdown in Malvern.

Michael Minor led the Hornets (16-4) with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Noah Ball and Dylan Phillips each scored eight points.

Julius Kimbrough led Aquinas with 15 points.

CANTON SOUTH 44, STRASBURG 31

Canton South took care of business in a Tuesday night hosting of Strasburg.

Landon Potopsky led the Tigers (13-8) with 16 points.

The Wildcats moved to 12-9 with the win.

TUSLAW 62, FAIRLESS 55

Ty Pratt’s 29 points led Tuslaw to a Principals Athletic Conference road win over Fairless on Tuesday.

Troy Harbitner added 20 points for the Mustangs, while Tayler Buttermore led Fairless with 18 points.

NORTHRIDGE 61, RIDGEWOOD 53

Northridge took a non-conference Tuesday night game from Ridgewood, courtesy of Nic Minder’s 25 points.

MAYSVILLE 76, CLAYMONT 45

Maysville blew out host Claymont on Tuesday night in Uhrichsville.

Connor Lynch led the Mustangs (4-17) with 11 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

ST. CLAIRSVILLE 48, INDIAN VALLEY 37

The St. Clairsville Red Devils topped Indian Valley on Tuesday in Gnadenhutten.

Shae Brookover tallied 16 points for St. Clairsville, while Alexis Thoburn added 14 points.

Macy Lancaster scored nine points to lead the Lady Braves, who dropped to 3-19.

BOYS BOWLING

SECTIONAL

The Carrollton Warriors won the Division II sectional bowling tournament on Tuesday at St. Clair Lanes.

The Carrollton boys won with a total of 4041, followed by qualifying teams Minerva (2nd, 3998), Conotton Valley (3rd, 3943), East Liverpool (4th, 3936), Garaway (5th, 3585), and Beaver (6th, 3456).

Brant George led the Warriors and the field with a 659 total, while Bryce Taylor (8th, 609), Kobe Green (15th, 583), and Ian Pallaye (22nd, 564) all fnished among the top 50 individuals.

Conotton’s Robert Meyer finished as the tournament’s runner-up individual at 647, while Bobby Brennan (4th, 639), Nolan Caldwell (26th, 547), and Jayden Rolli (46th, 482) all finished in the top 50.

The Garaway Pirates were led by Clayton Burky (3rd, 641), Caleb Meek (11th, 599), and Isaac Yoder (34th, 506).
