HS Sports Wednesday: Dover, Garaway, Hiland, Tusky Valley dominate in wins; TCC upends Malvern

Morgan Kiser scored 21 points and Tori Jones added 19 points as Dover rolled to a 47-24 win over Steubenville in an Ohio Valley Athletic Conference face-off on Wednesday night.

The Crimson Tornadoes (7-9) defense clamped down on the Big Red offense, forcing Steubenville into 25 turnovers.

Elexis Martin led Steubenville’s scoring with seven points.

TUSCARAWAS VALLEY 55, SANDY VALLEY 25

The Tusky Valley Trojans stonewalled the Sandy Valley Cardinals offense in a Wednesday night win in Zoarville.

Tusky forced 29 turnovers for the game and allowed just eight first-half points – including three in the first quarter – to the Cardinals.

Four Trojans starters scored in double figures: Ashley Merrick (13 points, three steals), Kaleigh Norris (11 points), Brook Stookey (10 points, 12 rebounds), and Kadence Stutz (10 points).

Abbey Parker was the Cardinals’ double-figures scorer, with 10 points.

The victory boosted Tusky Valley to 14-3 and an IVC South-best 10-1, while Sandy Valley dropped to 12-6, 6-5.

TUSCARAWAS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 45, MALVERN 37

Reese Triplett scored a game-high 21 points in Tuscarawas Central Catholic’s Wednesday night IVC North win over Malvern High School.

The Hornets (9-8, 5-4 IVC North) were led by Maddie Powers’ 21 points.

The Saints moved to 12-3 (9-1 North) with the win.

HILAND 51, INDIAN VALLEY 16

Ashley Mullet sank five 3-point attempts en route to a team-high 17 points for the Hiland Hawks’ blowout win over Indian Valley on Wednesday night.

Joplin Yoder contributed 15 points (including 7-of-7 from the free-throw line), while Mallory Stutzman scored 13 points for the Hawks (13-7, 9-1 IVC South).

The Braves dropped to 1-16 and 0-10 with the loss.

TUSLAW 52, CANTON CENTRAL CATHOLIC 41

Gabby Johnson led the Lady Mustangs with 16 points in Tuslaw’s Wednesday victory over Canton Central.

Abby Hoiles (12 points) and Brianna Fitzgerald (11 points) added to the Tuslaw final total.

GARAWAY 44, CLAYMONT 30

The Garaway Pirates bested Claymont in an IVC South contest on Wednesday in the Twin Cities.

The Minerva boys’ and girls’ bowling teams swept United on Wednesday at the Minerva Bowl.

For the Minerva boys, Ahdyn Lautzenheiser led the Lions with a 461 total (236, 225), while Isaiah Frazier added a 459 (246, 213).

For the Lions girls, Jadynn Thompson (211, 190) led the way with a 401 total.
