Marlington graduate selected to serve on Appeals Court

A Stark County resident has been selected as a presiding judge for Ohio’s Fifth District Court Of Appeals.

Judge Earl E. Wise Jr. was selected to serve through the rest of this year as he was previously chosen as the court’s administrative judge in November of 2016.

The Marlington High graduate previously served as a private practice attorney in Stark and surrounding counties. He also served as an assistant public defender in Carroll County, administrator for the city of North Canton from 2005 to 2010, and assistant Stark County prosecutor from 1997 to 2005. Wise also worked as deputy director for the Stark County Board of Elections while attending University of Akron law school.

Before then, the Army National Guard veteran served as bailiff for former Stark County Common Pleas Judge James S. Gwin. On top of graduating from University of Akron law School, Wise graduated from the College Of Wooster. He is married and has two children.
