A man from Bolivar died Tuesday after a single-vehicle accident in Goshen Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol of New Philadelphia responded to State Route 416 for reports of an accident. When they arrived, they discovered a 2007 Chevrolet Van off of the road.

Officials say that 79-year-old Virgil Ravenscroft was heading north on SR 416 just south of
milepost 15 when his vehicle drove off the right side of the roadway, before striking a guardrail, ejecting him from the vehicle.

A seatbelt was not worn, according to the OSHP report. Alcohol and drug use is unknown at this time. The accident remains under investigation.
