HS Boys Basketball Friday: Hiland tops Garaway in OT; New Philadelphia downs Tusky Valley; River View’s Enig scores school record 43 points

Hiland outlasted Garaway in overtime in a Friday night IVC South contest in Sugarcreek.

The Hawks got a team-high 12 points by Sammy Detweiler, as well as Chris Shetler’s 11 points and Tony Yoder’s 10 points in a victory that boosted Hiland’s record to 12-1 (7-0 in the IVC South).

The Pirates (8-3, 4-2 South) were led by Alexander Roden’s 15 points, followed by 14 points by Jarrett Wallick.

NEW PHILADELPHIA 66, TUSCARAWAS VALLEY 40

The New Philadelphia Quakers took care of business in a non-conference win over Tusky Valley in Friday night.

Carter Vandall led New Phila (9-2) with 27 points and 11 rebounds, including a halftime buzzer-beater from beyond half court.

Jadan Lowery added nine points and tied Vandall for the team lead in rebounds (11), while Michael Vickers totaled 12 points for the Quakers.

The Trojans (9-4) were led in scoring by Logan Stotzer, who totaled 10 points to be the only T.V. player in double figures.

DOVER 70, MARIETTA 51

The Dover Crimson Tornadoes won their eighth straight game in an ECOL victory over Marietta High School on Friday night.

T.C. Molk exploded for a game-high 30 points with four rebounds and three assists, while Ayden Hall added 17 points while dishing out eight assists.

Dover (11-1, 2-1 ECOL) will face off with Granville High School. in Saturday’s Spectrum Orthopedic Classic at North Canton Hoover High School.

STRASBURG 53, EAST CANTON 43

Strasburg moved to 6-1 in the IVC North and 9-3 overall after winning at East Canton on Friday.

Landon Potopsky and Cole Hutchison each scored 12 points to lead the Tigers.

The Hornets dropped to 3-9 overall (2-5 North).

INDIAN VALLEY 55, RIDGEWOOD 44

The Indian Valley Braves bested Ridgewood in an IVC South showdown on Friday night.

The Braves improved to 9-4 (3-3 IVC South), while the Generals fell to 10-3 (4-3 South).

TUSCARAWAS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 56, BUCKEYE TRAIL 52

Tuscarawas Central Catholic edged the Buckeye Trail Warriors in a competitive IVC North contest.

The Saints were led by Zander Sabin’s 22 points to improve the team’s record to 6-7 (5-2 IVC North).

The Warriors (5-7, 4-4 North), were led by Garrett Burga’s 19 points, while Franko Rome pitched in 17 points in the loss.

RIVER VIEW 72, CROOKSVILLE 23

Owen Enig scored 32 of his school-record 43 points in River View High School’s blowout victory over Crooksville on Friday.

Enig nailed 10 3-point shots to best Marcus Olinger’s previous record of 42 points, set in the 2000-01 season.

The Black Bears also received nine points from Gage Summers, and eight points from Carter Fry.

CVCA 49, Fairless 38

Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy dropped the Fairless Falcons in a PAC-7 showdown on Friday.

Darryn Peterson led CVCA with 15 points while Johnathan Fridline and Brennan Darr added eight points apiece for the victors.

Tayler Buttermore led Fairless with a game-high 25 points.
