The Minerva Lions football program has found it’s new leader.
The Lions have hired a man familiar with Minerva and football. Tim Speakman is a 1983 graduate of Minerva High School.
Speakman brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the program, at both the high school and college levels.
Minerva could use the experience. Since the 2014 season, the Minerva Lions have won three games (one in 2019 and two in 2020). The Lions have endured five winless seasons from 2015-2021.
“We are happy to have found a coach with a wealth of experience and success at both the high school and college level. Tim, being a Minerva guy, has great pride in this community and football program,” said Athletic Director Mike Waller. “I believe he will take the necessary steps to get things turned around and headed in the right direction.”
In addition to being the Head Football Coach, Speakman will also be taking over the High School Weight Lifting Program. He began his teaching and coaching duties at Minerva on Monday.
