HS Basketball Tuesday: Conotton Valley, Indian Valley win at Kalivoda Showcase; New Philadelphia wins over Claymont

Carter Vandall led New Philadelphia with 18 points as the Quakers bested the Claymont Mustangs, 51-39, in a Tuesday night non-conference boys’ matchup.

New Phila also got scoring performances from Michael Vickers (11 points), Colton Slaughter (nine points), and Jadan Lowery (eight), while Cade Watkins scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs in the loss.

The Quakers advance to 6-1 on the season, while Claymont falls to 1-8.

INDIAN VALLEY 56, JOHN MARSHALL 46

The Indian Valley Braves posted a 10-point victory over John Marshall High School among Tuesday’s slate of games in the 2021 Todd Kalivoda Holiday Showcase at Toronto.

The Braves will play Marlington on Day 2 of the Showcase on Wednesday (6:25 p.m. tip-off).

CONOTTON VALLEY 51, BRIDGEPORT 30

The Conotton Valley Rockets won their Kalivoda Showcase matchup with Bridgeport on Tuesday.

The Rockets moved to 3-7 with the victory.

HILAND 51, LUCAS 44

Hiland opened the First Federal Holiday Showcase with a 7-point win over Lucas High School on Tuesday.

The Hawks improved to 7-1 with the win.

MALVERN 74, BUCKEYE TRAIL 56

Malvern piled on the points in a Tuesday victory over Buckeye Trail.

The Hornets led 20-17 after the opening quarter and 36-26 at halftime before scoring 19 points apiece in the final two periods.

Michael Minor led the Hornets with 28 points while Connor Lefevre scored eight for Malvern (7-0, 5-0 IVC).

The Warriors (3-5, 3-3 IVC) were led in scoring by Charlie Parry with 14 points, while Garrett Burga scored 13.

RIDGEWOOD 66, RIVER VIEW 58

The Ridgewood Generals won against River View High School in Tuesday’s Coshocton Holiday Classic matchup.

The Generals moved to 7-1 with the victory.

Ridgewood will face off with host Coshocton on Wednesday (8 p.m.) as part of the Classic’s second and final day of play, while River View will play Newcomerstown (6 p.m.).

COSHOCTON 74, NEWCOMERSTOWN 28

Holiday Classic host Coshocton blew out Newcomerstown on Tuesday.

The Skins led 25-9 after the first quarter and 58-24 at halftime of a win that moved Coshocton to

Newcomerstown dropped to 0-9 with the loss.

FAIRLESS 60, TRIWAY 57 (OT)

The Fairless Falcons survived an overtime thriller against Triway High School on Wednesday.

Carson Colucci nailed a 3-pointer for Fairless at the regulation buzzer to send the game to extra time.

Drew Bishko led the Knights with 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Cale Drown scored 18 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MALVERN 57, EAST CANTON 53 (OT)

Malvern’s girls’ squad edged the East Canton Wizards in overtime on Tuesday.

Maddie Powers scored 32 points to lead the Hornets (6-5, 4-2), while Lanie Bowers (12 points) and Emma Debo (11) contributed to the Hornets’ victory.

Tori Reichard led E.C. with 20 points, while Brooke Chastain added 16 points.
