HS Sports Thursday: New Philadelphia, Indian Valley bowling split; River View wrestling beats Quakers

New Philadelphia and Indian Valley’s bowling teams split in their matches at Cy Young Lanes in Newcomerstown on Thursday.

The Quaker boys won 2,151-1,965 as Zach Schupbach rolled a 396 (200-196) and Alex Knisely added a 389 (189-200).

On the girls side, the Braves won with Zoe Blickensderfer bowling a 326 (163-163) and Kalee Barrick adding a 310 (143-167).

CONOTTON VALLEY-CLAYMONT

Conotton Valley’s boys and girls squads defeated Claymont at Carroll Lanes on Thursday.

The Rocket boys won 2,246-1,856 and we’re led by Bobby Brennan’s 224 high game. Brennan scored a total 445 series.

The CV girls won 2,112-2,035, behind Daphne Stuber’s 209 (410).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MARTINS FERRY 49, HARRISON CENTRAL 38

Martins Ferry picked up a road win over Harrison Central on Thursday in Cadiz.

Lindsay Best scored 19 points and Alarah Jones added 10 for Ferry (5-4).

McKayla Dunkle led Harrison Central (5-4) with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

River View picked up a road match win at New Philadelphia on Thursday.
The Black Bears were led by Cruz Mobley, Travin Berry, Tucker Mounts and Gavin Kesterson.
