Malvern’s wrestling team jumped out to a large lead over the visiting United Eagles Wednesday night in a non-conference dual match.

The night started at 120 lbs. when Malvern’s Jordan Burrows pinned United’s Logan Casto.

“Jordan Burrows opened the night off with a pin and that really set the tone for the rest of the dual,” said Malvern head coach Robbie Wilson.

The Hornets went on to win the next five matches to rack up a 34-0 lead. The next five wins came from: 126 – Johnny Walker (M) Forfeit over United, 132 – Manny Walker (M) Tech. Fall Gage Smith (U) 18-2, 138 – Ethan Boni (M) Tech. Fall Brayden Mastronarde (U) 17-2, 144 – Tyson Clear (M) fall Bryan Faust (U), 150 – Matt Pucci (M) fall Matt Satterfield (U).

United’s Jensen Baker earned the first points of the night for the Eagles with a decision over Malvern’s Van Foley.

Others victorious for Malvern include: 113 – Tommy Poole (M) dec. Ethan Heestand (U) 8-6, 175 – Xavier Watson (M) fall Tucker Kiko (U) and 190 – Trevor Slider (M) fall Gavin Berger (U).

“The kids came out and did an outstanding job tonight,” said Coach Wilson. “Their intensity and focus tonight was the best I have ever seen since I have been here.”
