The Minerva Local School District has requested additional officers after receiving information about an unspecified threat about school violence
through social media to be carried out the
morning of Thursday, December 16th.
Superintendent Gary Chaddock said the threat did not originate locally, but was being screen captured and shared on student social media accounts, including Instagram.
Minerva Police indicated the origin of this post to be in Northern Ohio and not specific to Minerva High School. Extra officers will be on patrol at the school in addition to the school resource officer, according to Chaddock.
“The safety of our staff and students is our top priority,” he said. “Minerva Local Schools will continue to work closely with the Minerva Police Department to ensure the safety of all students and staff.”
