As the winter months approach, Covid-19 numbers are on the rise once again. The high volume of patients seeking treatment right now is causing long wait times at local hospitals in Stark County as they try to handle record numbers of Covid-19 patients.

Some ER wait times are exceeding 10 hours, according to reports from JMN followers who have tried to be seen at Cleveland Clinic Mercy and Aultman Hospitals.

The North Lawrence Fire Department took to Facebook to warn people of the hospitals being on “diversion” at this time.

Diversion is when a hospital has no beds available at the time on the floors, this means patients that need admission are kept in the emergency room.

The Facebook post read that patients are being placed in the waiting room, even if they self transport or arrive by EMS.

“Regardless of the diversion of any hospital we will continue to follow all medical control protocol and will not turn any patients away from pre hospital care and/or transport,” North Lawrence FD Public Information Officer Johnson said.
