A three-year-old has died after suffering a gunshot wound inside a Wintersville home Sunday.

Investigators say Paris Coleman suffered a gunshot to the chest, according to reports.

WTOV9 reports that Paris’ 30-year-old mother, Kaifia Williams, began driving the child away from the home after the shooting and was encouraged by 911 dispatchers to meet an ambulance at a nearby grocery store.

Paris was transported to Trinity Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Williams has been charged with obstruction and endangering children.

Three others children – ages 4, 9 and 11 – were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said that the mother would not cooperate, according to a statement provided to WTOV9.

Charges against another suspect is in the works, according to the Jefferson County Prosecutor Jane Hanlin. She said Andrew Burton, 30, is wanted in connection to Paris’ death. Burton is the father of one of Williams’ children.

Police are still searching for Burton, who was inside the home at the time of the shooting.
