A 37-year-old man is behind bars after a woman says he beat her for more than an hour before she was able to escape him and contact police.
The victim told police that Jose Padilla III beat her for over an hour because he believed she stole a $600 watch of his.
The alleged attack happened Saturday morning around 4:30 a.m. Police were first contacted by Padilla who said the victim broke into his home in the 800 block of 811 Wardell Dr SW in Strasburg, stole his watch and left. Minutes later, police received a call from a woman who said she had just “escaped being killed” by Padilla.
Strasburg Police made contact with the woman and requested an ambulance for an evaluation of her injuries.
She told police that Padilla accused her of stealing his property and then attacked her.
He is being charged with robbery, unlawful restraint and felonious assault.
