Stark County residents remain in the dark as to what Skyland Pines is being converted to after the selling of the location in September.

Skyland Pines, home to one of the best golf courses in the area, a venue for many weddings, receptions and banquets, is rumored to have been sold to Amazon; although there has been no confirmation.

According to a building permit filed in Sept., the project currently being done at former Skyland Pines Golf Club is valued at $87.4 million.

The property is 1,000,000 square feet – including the golf course and the venue. At this time, the permit does not indicate who will be occupying the location.

According to the permit, the project has been named Project Fore and is set to become a “new e-commerce warehouse and distribution facility.”

The contractor for the project is listed as Clayco, a company based in St. Louis. The owner of the property is now listed as Panattoni Development Co. – both companies have a history of doing work on distribution center projects for Amazon.
