A former Sandy Valley teacher has accepted a guilty plea after being charged with multiple sex crimes involving a minor.

Jason Neading, 39, of East Sparta was sentenced to four years in prison on a charge of Gross Sexual Imposition. The former eighth-grade social studies teacher in the Sandy Valley School District was originally charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony. The rape charge was dropped as part of the plea agreement.

His four year prison sentence includes time already served. Once released from prison, he will be required to register as a sex offender.

The Stark County Prosecutor reiterates that the incident did not involve a student of his.

With plea deal, Neading will never be allowed to teach again.
