Carrollton bested Harrison Central 7-0 in a girls’ soccer match on Monday night, with sophomore Ariona Rutledge scoring three goals – her 16th, 17th, and 18th of the 2021 season to set a school record.

Rutledge, a sophomore, was joined by fellow soph Lexi Shockey in posting hat tricks for the Warriors’ blowout match win.

When asked about her feeling of breaking the record, Rutledge described: “Good. Grateful.”

Rutledge’s record-breaking goal came on her first score just minutes before halftime on a bullet past Huskies goalie Katherine Shearer. Rutledge was honored at halftime by the public address and cheers from her teammates and Carrollton fans.

Rutledge would then score twice in the second half (as well as Shockey) to further the Warriors’ lead. Carrollton advances to 7-5-1 after their fifth win in six matches.
