The family of a toddler is mourning the loss of their child after the young girl was attacked and killed by a Pitbull Sunday morning – the Pitbull is one of the family’s two Pitbulls.
Akron Police responded to a home in the 300 block of W. Moreland Street for reports of a child attacked by a Pitbull. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the young child in critical condition after the attack.
The child was rushed to Akron Children’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police say there was an altercation between two adults in the house – neither were the parents of the child. According to the investigation, police say the toddler was in the living room when she was attacked by the dog, after the dog became agitated during the altercation.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy. The victim’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notification.
