The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident that occurred Sunday evening on US. 36 near Township Rd. 1159 in Bethlehem Twp.

Officials say Shannon Ziegler, 30, of Warsaw, Ohio was traveling West on US 36 when Ziegler went off the right side of the roadway, overcorrected and went left of center, striking a vehicle driven by Thomas Wiegand, 64, of Dover in a head-on collision.

Two passengers were in Wiegand’s vehicle; Elizabeth Wiegand, 62, of Dover and Mary Paris, 74, of Portland, Oregon – all occupants of the vehicle had to be extricated by mechanical means.

Thomas and Elizabeth Wiegand were both flown by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

Ziegler was also flown by medical helicopter to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital.

Paris was transported by emergency squad to Coshocton Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.

The accident remains under investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in this crash.
