About two weeks into the school year, many local schools have announced they will be requiring masks be worn by students and staff while indoors, effective Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Thursday afternoon, parents from Minerva, Malvern and Carrollton were informed that district students and staff will be required to wear facial coverings. This new requirement comes after a number of confirmed positive cases in all of the districts. Minerva (23), Malvern (24) & Carrollton (additional cases).

This news comes in light of a new directive local superintendents received from Gov. Mike DeWine earlier this week.

“If a child is exposed to the virus, but if that child is vaccinated or if that child was wearing a mask during the exposure, that child does not need to be quarantined,” said Gov. DeWine.
