A shooting in the 300 block of Third St. SW in Strasburg left two men in area hospitals, according to reports from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials believe only one shot was fired during the incident. The single shot was fired by the son of one of the injured men, who was involved in an altercation at the time of the shooting.

The 19-year-old retrieved the gun after he saw his father involved in an altercation with a visitor. Officials believe the visiting man was shot in the shoulder and the single bullet traveled into the abdominal area of the father.

The father, 54, is being treated at Aultman Hospital. The 20-year-old who sustained a shoulder injury, was transported to Mercy Hospital in Canton.

The investigation into the shooting continues.
