An Ohio family is mourning the loss of an American servicemen killed in a terror attack in Afghanistan. The attack killed 13 U.S Military members.

Max Soviak was a 2017 graduate of Edison Local Schools, the school district confirmed Soviak’s death Friday.

The Sandusky Register said that Soviak served as a medic in the U.S. Navy.

Max was killed at the Abbey gate of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, according to the U.S. Navy.

In addition to the military members who died, 169 Afghans died. The recent attacks are considered to be the deadliest day in Afghanistan since 2011.

“We mourn the loss of this Sailor and we offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of our fallen shipmate,” the Navy said in a statement.
