The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval for Pfizer-BioNTech’s two-dose vaccine for ages 16 and up. This is now the first and only Covid-19 vaccine to pass.

“The FDA’s approval of this vaccine is a milestone as we continue to battle the Covid-19 pandemic,” Acting FDA Commissioner Dr. Janet Woodcock said in a statement following full approval being granted. “While millions of people have already safely received Covid-19 vaccines, we recognize that for some, the FDA approval of a vaccine may now instill additional confidence to get vaccinated. Today’s milestone puts us one step closer to altering the course of this pandemic in the U.S.”

Many businesses have been waiting for the FDA to give full approval for the vaccine before requiring employees to get vaccinated in order to keep working.

Last week, the Biden Administration announced they will allow a third (booster) shot beginning the week of Sept. 20. The FDA has yet to sign off on the third shot.
