More than 200 people dead after earthquake in Haiti, death toll continues to rise

A 7.2 magnitude earthquake has left Haiti devasted.

At least 227 people are dead following the earthquake that occurred Saturday.

The country is still mourning the assassination of their president, now the country is in ruins from damage caused by the earthquake.

A brief tsunami threat was trigger in the Caribbean country but later canceled, due to the magnitude of the earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey tweeted that aftershocks are expected in the coming days and weeks.

Haiti is vulnerable to many earthquakes. In 2008, the country suffered a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, killing an estimated 300,000 people.
