A two-vehicle crash claimed two lives Sunday afternoon.

Brittany Spohn, 36, of Ravenna, was driving east on Ohio 14 when she lost control of her vehicle. She crossed the center line and collided westbound with a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. Spohn died at the scene.

Esther Smith, 81, of Louisville, a passenger in the Hyundai, was taken to University Hospital Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. She died of her injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 71-year-old Louisville resident, was transported to UH Portage Medical Center with serious injuries. A passenger in the Dodge was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

It’s unclear whether drugs and/or alcohol were factors of the crash; which remains under investigation.
