A 33-year-old Alliance man died Wednesday evening after being involved in a single-vehicle crash in Perry Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ryan Smith, was heading east on Richville Dr. near Surmay Ave when his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado traveled left of center.
Smith overcorrected before going off the right side of the roadway, striking a mailbox. In a second attempt to overcorrect, he traveled left of center and struck a tree head on, according to OSHP troopers.
OSHP said Smith was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
