Local police say a 24-year-old man from Green is in custody after he led deputies and state troopers on a chase Wednesday after stealing a motor home in a nearby neighborhood.

Randy H. Schiffbauer was arrested on charges including robbery, felonious assault with a weapon, assault on a police officer and willful fleeing after the chase.

Summit County Sheriff’s Inspector Bill Holland says Schiffbauer hit two highway patrol vehicles during the chase, one Summit County vehicle and multiple civilian cars.

Summit County deputies were dispatched to Greensburg Rd in Green around 10 a.m. due to a call about a suspicious person. A responding deputy said she saw an RV flee the scene with the doors open, accelerating at a high rate of speed. A power cord was also dragging behind the vehicle.

When the deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop, Schiffbauer allegedly kept driving, striking other vehicles.

The suspect fled on foot after getting the stolen RV stuck after driving through the backyards of homes on Briarwood Way. A K-9 unit arrested Schiffbauer a short time later.

No injuries were reported as a result of the chase.
