A Canton mother is behind bars after police believe she killed her infant child by assaulting him with several pieces of household furniture Monday evening.
Chief Jack Angelo said his officers responded to a home in the 1900 block of Maple Ave N.E. for an “indecent exposure” call about a woman walking naked on the sidewalk. Mary Guarendi-Walker then told police her 18-month old child was murdered inside the home.
Chief Angelo said officers rushed into the home and made entry through an unlocked window. That’s when they discovered 18-month old Kevin Walker Jr. under several large pieces of furniture. The child was unconcious with severe head and body trauma. He was transported to Mercy Hospital where he died.
Police believe this is a domestic related incident.
The 24-year-old mother was arrested and charged with murder. The child’s father, Kevin Walker, was arrested and charged with Obstructing Justice.
