The Jackson Twp. Fire Department confirmed to JMN that a man is dead after his boat capsized in a pond on Wednesday morning.
Chief Timothy G. Berczik said that an ‘elderly man’ died as a result of the accident in a pond in the 5100 block of Strausser St. NW.
The unidentified victim was submerged under water along with the boat. He was transported to the hospital where he died.
Firefighters suited up and entered the water to rescue the man. He was located within 10 minutes.
The man’s fishing partner called 911 and was transported to a hospital as well – his condition is unknown.
The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time.
