Jason McDermitt was sentenced to life in prison without parole Wednesday afternoon.

McDermitt was convicted on April 8 for the shooting death of Morgan Fox. He was found guilty on charges of aggravated murder and menacing by stalking.

Stark County Court of Common Pleas Judge Natalie Haupt handed down the sentence Wednesday afternoon.

“While you are young and have no prior history, I do believe that there is a risk you will commit another offense and there is a need to protect the public,” said Judge Haupt. “The nature and circumstance of this offense warrant a significant sentence.”

Fox, 29, was shot in the head twice while she entered her vehicle that was parked in the driveway of her North Canton home on Frazer Ave in October of 2020.

McDermitt was arrested the next day.
